Worthing Festival submission

My submission to Worthing Festival’s Open call for artists. The organisers wanted artwork that captures the vibrant essence of our community and would be featured across the festival’s digital and print advertising as well as a press release.

I chose to take inspiration from themes of connection, culture and togetherness as a community. I wanted to create a bustling scene showing vibrant characters enjoying our seaside town.

The process started with looking at local landmarks, deciding to study the historic cinema, The Worthing Dome. I then started sketching in Procreate the building from photos, before creating a sketch for the whole scene. I knew I wanted to include a diverse range of characters all enjoying life in Worthing, but that the whole artwork was not going to be possible to do in Procreate.

So I made each character or small group of characters in Procreate, exported to PSD and then pieced together as one using Photoshop.
